Service Clubs- Key Club Papers,

Main Entry: Key Club
19 Files

Biographical/Historical Note:
Like most of the other student service clubs, the Key Club was created in the early 1970s and was sponsored by the Airport Area Kiwanis Club. Paul Stockhammer, and English teacher and administrator, was the original sponsor. In the mid-1980s Dr. Doug Fleming became the sponsor and the club became very active in a number of service and money raising projects, including Halloween-o-grams, tutoring at local elementary schools, visits to nursing homes, family Christmas projects, Festival of Trees, and AIDS walks.

Scope and Content:
Arranged in chronological order, 1984-2000, the collection consists of 19 files containing a variety of items reflecting the membership and activities of the Key Club. Composed of almost exclusively papers items, the papers include printed pamphlets from Key Club organizations, and typed membership roles, dues records, officer elections, money receipts, and correspondence concerning trips and service projects. Papers also include handwritten notes. Much of the correspondence concerns the club’s tutoring program at S.R Young Elementary School in College Park and Hapeville Elementary School. A number of color photos show these tutoring activities.
