The Office of
Development and Alumni was created in 1961 by Capt. William R. Brewster.
M.C. Paget was the first director (1961-1968) and Bob Ballentine was the
first Public Relations Director in the 1960s, when he initiated the publications.
The Office has been responsible for Alumni affairs, publications, annual
giving, and other organized fundraising efforts, such as Capital Campaigns.
Over decades the office underwent a number of reorganizations with numerous
directors, systems, and programs. John Anderson became Vice President
for Development in 1990.
Scope and Content:
chronological order, the collection includes unbound copies of Academy,
an 8.5”x11” color magazine published by the Development Office, concerning
news about the school and its alumni. After a number of preceding
Alumni publications since the 1960s, Academy was first published in 1984.

collection of Academy began in 1997 and continued through periodic accrual
of department records transfer from the Development Office.
