Biographical/Historical Note: 
          M.C. Paget (1904-1997) was born in Augusta, Georgia, and grew up in El Paso, Texas.  He attended Staunton Military Academy in Virginia, where he excelled in athletics and went on to play football at the University of Alabama.  He taught at the Alabama Military Institute and the Baylor School in Tennessee before coming to GMA in 1928.  For decades Paget taught history and served as a dorm parent.  Paget was respected nationally as a track and football coach.  He coached GMA football until 1935, winning two championships, and he coached a number of successful track stars over thirty years.  For over thirty years, Paget also served as a field representative for GMA and was instrumental in recruiting students from across America and Cuba.

          In 1961 Paget was named Alumni Director and Director of Development by Capt. Brewster.  He continued in this job until his retirement in 1968. 

Scope and Content: 
          Arranged in chronological order, this collection includes thirteen gradebooks, 5”x7.5”, spanning three decades, 1930s-1950s.  There are twelve gradebooks for Paget’s history classes, mostly from the 1940s ( six for the period 1943-1948), the earliest from 1932 ( including the 1937 track team which he coached), and the latest from 1959.  One gradebook is undated, although it probably came form the late 1940s.
